I would go but there'd have to be a good reason to get me there, since there's no GH/RB tournament (although Quiet PC will be there with some freeplay RB) and the winter events are usually quieter; although going back to Newbury would be pretty sweet (i33 :D). i39 and i40, I'm 99% certain about going.

Oh, and i37 was in August.  ;)

Pah, why take my lil' 128mb single core PC when I can have awesome LANs at DG with UBER-HIGH SPEC PREDATORS!?!?!

I have already decided that I am spending £1000 on one after playing at the taster sessions. This is a huge chunk of my scholarship, and as such, I will not be able to afford to take my beautiful baby anywhere. Especially LAN parties.

The main reason many people from here won't go, is the BYOC cost. For most people £90 is quite steep (£72 with Early Bird Discount, still fairly pricey) but I've been going since i33 (spectator at i35 and i38) just taking my xbox and laptop, and I guarantee you, it's worth every penny. Non-stop gaming from Friday morning (or Thursday early evening for Early Arrival) to Monday afternoon, playing whatever you feel like, there's always something going on. Plus the addition of high prize-fund tournaments like CS:S, CoD, Halo, aswell as a number of big name companies as exhibitors, some running smaller competitions like Quiet PC, who've run Rock Band 2 and SF4 mini-competitions since i36. Plus another plus about i-series, is all the FREEBIES. All the little bits and bobs they give away, t-shirts, pens, computer parts, and loads more i can't remember. Plus they have a huuuuge raffle on the Monday, where they give away tons of stuff from mousemats to PC cases, t-shirts to full Guitar Hero band sets (guitar/drums/mic), and you get a free ticket with your entry pass  ;D

I may have got a little carried away there, but that's pretty much everything at an I-series event. Big-prize tournaments, huge LAN games, exhibitors, freebies; attending at least 1 i-event is a must for any gamer  ;D

And why should people fear the BYOC element of iLAN?

several people commute there and back each time and there are plenty of solutions to the public transport method (a suitcase is one).

The cost should not fob people off especially for what it offers. Your post basically defines the value and quality of that £90 spent!

Would it be possible to rent the DMU minibus for 3 days? That'd make life a lot easier for a 'possible' DG iLAN event.

So I assume you're going to i39, how are you travelling? We shall speak about it in further detail when I see you next :D

BYOC has worked ever since i-series has started. Pretty much the only thing people have to worry about are burglars who lurk about looking for anything that's not tied down. (Example of a thief getting caught, note the list of items he stole: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5w3yfqOOhU)

For transport, there's a train station right outside Newbury Racecourse for those coming by train.

Completely agree with what the cost offers. It covers pretty much entry, entry to all tournaments, a number of exhibitors and whatever freebies are going around, a raffle ticket, and your own seat and network connection somewhere around the venue.

As for me, I'm driving down since I have my car.  ;D

Because my computer is mediocre at most, my monitor on the other hand is horrific.

Yes. But you'd need a committee member going plus a valid minibus driver (currently only K, but anyone is welcome to take the test if 21+ and 3 years valid licence)
